About Us:

Why I Care?

Besides all of Ian’s interests and talents, he was also a boy that was committed to community service and social consciousness, from a very young age. As a member of the Cub Scouts, he relished any opportunity to work at food banks, to participate in street cleanups, and to assist in food and clothing drives to benefit those in need. Even on his own accord, he would hold lemonade and baked good sales to benefit children’s charities. And more little acts of kindness that came from his caring heart.

After Ian’s death, the Besners knew that they had find a way to continue Ian’s spirit of community service in a way that would touch the lives of others and inspire kids to commit to volunteerism at a young age. Ian’s friends and family knew that they had to carry on Ian’s quality of “caring”.

Why I Cure?

After witnessing Ian’s physical and emotional struggle with pediatric cancer and its current treatment, his family and friends knew that Ian would also want to spare as many children as possible the awful pain and suffering that he was forced to endure.

Armed with knowledge and first-hand experience, the Besners knew they needed to devote their efforts to educating the public about and finding gentler, more humane cures for childhood cancer.

Ian deserved a better cure and wanted all kids to have better cures. Thus, the other fundamental mission of I Care I Cure is "curing".
